Small Animal Field Day

During our first year, a few members from our club attended Small Animal Field Day in April of 2015. This is a really fun event with lots of small animals to see and learn about and many contests to enter such as trivia, pet dress-up, photography, poster and more.  Each 4-H club can also operate a booth with a game, craft or other fun activity.

At Small Animal Field Day 2016, the Rabbits project operated a booth to show people how to make hay bombs (enrichment toys for rabbits made from hay). There were lots of games and activities and a dress-up contest.

In 2017, an Emeryville 4-H member won the themed dress-up contest!  The theme was safari, and here she is with her clever entry.  Congratulations!

In 2018, the theme for the event was superheroes.  Our Chickens & Eggs project created a booth, “Egg Candling with Egg Man and the Wheel of Chicken Knowledge.”  Members helped manage the craft table and showed attendees how to make cat toys.  Members also worked at the Crayon Initiative table helping prep donated crayons.

And for the SECOND year in a row, our member won the chicken dress-up contest!  Congratulations again to the 2-time champion!
